Laughter, the Best Medicine

When people are diagnosed with cancer, usually the first treatment is surgery followed by chemo or radiation therapy. I do not understand why a treatment that kills you slowly would be effective. The treatment leaves you weak and prone to other illnesses as it kills your immunity. Your immunity is what keeps you alive. It protects you from the smallest virus to bacteria and other parasites. Why kill what protects you.

Norman Cousins did years of research on cancer patients. For twelve weeks, his patients would laugh for a half hour of deep belly. Were not talking about a little chuckle we are talking rolling around, can't breath laughing. Research has shown that this type of treatment increase natural killer cells. These NK cells would attack cancer cells by injecting them with a protein that causes them to die thus making your body healthy again.

So if you or someone you know is diagnosed with cancer watch funny movies, go to comedy clubs, spend time with friends and family, and laugh, laugh, laugh. Let go of the feelings of trying to please others and yourself. Enjoy life. Let go of the past. Live for right now because that is all we have. Stop attacking yourself and letting feelings of guilt, grief, or uncertainty eat away at you.

The colour of the day is orange. It increases immunity. Imagine an orange ball of healing light on the place in your body that has cancer. If it is everywhere imagine your body in a protective bubble of orange that flows in positive energy and takes negative black energy away. Surround yourself with more orange things. Eat orange food, wear orange clothes, paint a wall in your house orange.

Essential oils I recommend for cancer are clove, lemongrass, frankincense, oregano, thyme. Frankincense and Lemongrass are suppose to target cancer cells and induce their death. Thyme and oregano protect our DNA from damage to prevent cancer or to slow the rate that cancer is evolving in our bodies.

When life gets you down, laugh about it, and then laugh some more. Then when you don't think you can laugh anymore because you can't breath, you should keep on laughing. Laugh yourself to good health.

Attracting Good Things Into our Lives

I have often wondered why bad things happen in three. It seems that when things are going bad they are often going really bad. This reminds me of an ancient Chinese proverb I read today: "Fortune and disaster do not come through gates, but man himself invites their arrival." What we think and what we feel become reality. We open the flood gates of disaster into our lives.

When we think about everything that is wrong with our lives that is all we see. When I talk to single people about what they want in a partner I am often confounded with words of what they don't want. When I hear those words I think that is exactly what you are going to get. What you don't want instead of what you do want.

So the next time you want something to change in your life think about what you want and be grateful for the things you have. Everyday take an inventory of everything you have. I am not talking about material possessions that our western society is so obsessed with, I am talking about relationships that you value, people you care about, changes in the world that you see and are proud of.

I am grateful for all the love and support I have from friends and family. At one point in my life I took everyone for granted. I became excluded from everyone for fear they would hurt me. One day I woke up and realized that I didn't have any friends and my family was giving up on me. It took years to grow great friendships and to repair the trust in my family. Today I am grateful for every moment I spend with my family, every word of encouragement from my friends and love I feel all around me everyday.

If you find it difficult to feel grateful for life you may be lost in hopelessness. That is not a healthy place to be but you can set yourself free. Imagine a orange-red sword running through your body cutting all the hopelessness you feel. Let your warrior arch-type free you from any burdens you may feel. Allow new insights, wisdom, and opportunities to come forth as you slash yourself free. Orange is a colour that inspires courage and determination. Red inspires enthusiasm, passion, and unlimited energy.

Don't let the flood gates of diaster open. Free your mind of negative thoughts. Be grateful for who you are and what you have. Above all love yourself.

Why do my shoulders hurt all the time?

As a massage therapist I encounter many people who complain of shoulder pain. Often their shoulders are hunched forward, they have a neck shortened, and they have inflammation. Sure a couple of advils will take the inflammation away and the person will feel better but it doesn't solve the problem. To get rid of the pain you have to understand where the pain is coming from.

Our bodies are an amazing mechanism that give us small clues into what is going on in our life. When we feel pain it tells our brain that something is wrong. When we can't explain the pain, we wonder why do I hurt so much? Well if you know what to look for you can figure it out.

If any of you are familiar with acupressure the small intestine meridian starts on the lateral side of the pinky finger and ends in front of the ear as it travels up your arm onto your scapula, and up your neck. The small intestine meridian relates to joy in your life. From this information we can determine that when you are not experiencing enough joy in your life; therefore, you may have pain in our shoulders, neck, forearm, jaw or all of them.

Well that's great, is probably what you're thinking but what can I do to heal my body? That is a great question. There are many things you can do. Getting a massage and relaxing for an hour is a great way to get away from what ever is taking your joy away. Watching a funny movie. Laugh, laugh, laugh.

Other ways are to take a relaxing bath and drop some healing essential oils in the water. Oils that I recommend for use are chamomile, lavender, grapefruit, rose, basil, bergamont, majoram, geranium, rosemary, lemon, orange, mandarin, thyme, yarrow, juniper, pepermint, pine, rosewood, geranium. A favorite of mine is 15 drops of Basil, 10 drops Chamomile, and 10 drops of lavender (put the drops in the bath before you get in and mix the water).

Another way is using the healing energy of colour. For this I would recommend the healing energy of yellow. Yellow helps with letting go of negative patterns, it brings happiness, self renewal, optimism, laughter, and inner strength into your life. Take in yellow through sunlight, flowers, and food. While meditating you can also imagine a yellow light falling on your shoulders and healing them. With every inhale you can imagine the yellow light bringing in feelings of joy and laughter and with every exhale imagine all the negative feelings of insecurity and pain leaving your body.

Remember that you are in control of your own life and you have the ability to change it. Do not become a victim. Don't live your life expecting it to get better in the future or living in the past. LIVE FOR RIGHT NOW! Right now you have the ability to heal and to change yourself. May you bring joy and happiness to yourself and others. Namesta.
